I founded Shumate Leash and Collar in 2022. Most my life I have owned dogs. I am very active with my dogs which led me to ask more out of dog leashes and collars. Leather requires upkeep, gets slippy when wet, and absorbs odors. Nylon also absorbs odors and isn’t the most comfortable for the human or dog. One day I was driving around checking out local tack shops and stumbled upon BioThane® coated webbing. It was a game changer. Finally a material that has the comfort of leather with none of the upkeep and a consistent quality of nylon and best yet its waterproof so It doesn’t absorb odors!

Experience

I Took my vast array of prior work experience to Shumate Leash and Collar. I worked in manufacturing for some time. I was a welder, painter, material handler, and worked in management. I have also worked in sales. I appreciate my experience as it has helped me become quality oriented and customer service focused.
